Maybe you are aware of the phenomenon that is
Ravelry? If not, and you are a knitter, crocheter, spinner, or fibre-freak of any kind you need to be. The online
Ravelry community is a place for knitters, crocheters, designers, spinners, and dyers to organize their materials, to share yarn, tools, and patterns with each other, and look to interact with others for support, ideas and inspiration.
Ravelry is the brainchild and of a couple named Jess and Casey. Casey is a computer programmer and Jess a blogger and knitter. Together they came up with their 'baby'. If you're not yet a member, until you become one (an I know you will) you can take a look at the convenient
SNEAK PEEK Casey has made available. By becoming a member, or requiring membership,
Ravelry is in no way attempting to be 'exclusive'. It's just that
Ravelry has become SUCH an on-line presence, nearing the 300,000 member mark, that it takes Jess and Casey and their faithful helpers time to get through all the requests. All you need to do to become a member is click on 'join the invite list' in the upper right hand corner of the
SNEAK PEEK page. Then you enter your email address. That's it! 4-7 days later, depending on how many requests
Ravelry is getting, you will receive and invite email, follow the link and you're ready to become a
Raveler!!! For me,
Ravelry is a gift from the fibre gods. I have learned many things, met many wonderful 'cyber-friends', helped others and been helped. I enjoy the Ravelry experience so much that I began my own group (anyone can) based on knitting socks. But this post is FOR THE LOVE OF RAVELRY. More later on the sock group.
